As part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral defence and security cooperation between Sri Lanka and Thailand, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok is facilitating the finalization of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand on Cooperation for Preventing and Combating the Crime of Trafficking in Persons.
Following consultations with the Ministry of Defence of Sri Lanka, the revised draft MoU, incorporating the observations of the Attorney General’s Department of Sri Lanka, has been officially transmitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand for consideration by the relevant Thai authorities.
The proposed MoU is currently under review by the Thai side. Upon its conclusion, the MoU is expected to enhance bilateral cooperation in preventing and combating trafficking in persons through strengthened institutional collaboration, information sharing, capacity building, and coordinated efforts between the competent authorities of both countries.
